Pre-Purchase Exams (PPE) & Deposits
We have two vets doing PPEs at the track right now, Dr Olivia Rudolphi and Dr Kaitlyn Lamken. Both are very busy, and it takes some tweaking and time to schedule PPEs.
Please contact us and let us know you want a PPE and we can help guide you. If the purchase of your horse is "pending the results of a PPE", please let us know in advance. Some sellers prefer a quicker sale, so we may have to move to the next buyer in line.
The first step is to contact Rudolphi Veterinary Clinic to set up an account. Please inform them of your requirements for the PPE, and they'll provide you with a quote.
Rudolphi Clinic can be reached by voice & text at 618-752-7171.
Please ask for the first available PPE.

Please say "Hi, my name is Susie Sunshine and I would love if we could please schedule a PPE on horse X. He is at Fairmount Park Racetrack. I would like general health/flexions/ xrays (whatever you want) and was hoping you could please give me a price".
Please schedule timing of the PPE with both us and the seller.
Depending on which trainer the horse is with, we may need to be there to hold the horse for the PPE. The fee to hold your horse is $50 for the duration of the PPE. This needs to be paid in advance, electronically. There are no exceptions to this rule.
Offers, Vetting & Deposits Policy:
Once your offer is accepted, this is considered a binding verbal contract and the next steps are a bill of sale and payments. If your offer stipulates it is pending the results of pre-purchase exam, please keep reading.
If you want to move forward with a PPE it should be set up for within 2 to 3 business days, if possible. Please keep us in the loop every step of the way.
The buyer has one business day to decide whether to proceed with the sale after the conclusion of the PPE. A quicker response is greatly appreciated, as horses often have a queue of interested parties.
DEPOSIT POLICY:
A deposit of 12% of your offer price will hold the horse for you through the vetting. Putting a deposit down means we will not sell the horse outright or have another PPE set sooner by someone else while we are waiting for yours. The deposit will be applied to the price of the horse. Deposits are accepted by Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, and cash.
A PPE will find some issues; no horse will ever be perfect. Many common findings in PPEs can be managed or resolved with rest and rehab.
Most racehorses are a bit sore on their right hind limb. This is not an unusual finding. There is a ton of info on the internet on how to help your horse deal with a bit of soreness. Rest, rehab, body work, injections, chiropractic, anti-inflammatory meds - are all viable options.
You can choose not to put down a deposit while waiting for the PPE. However, that means someone else might decide to purchase the horse outright before your vetting.
If you choose not to follow through with the purchase of the horse, your deposit (less a $200 fee) will be refunded. $200 of your deposit is not refundable.
Once the PPE is complete and you have committed to the horse, the bill of sale will be completed, final payment will be required, and the sale is considered final. If there is a gap of time before the horse is picked up, you will be asked to pay $25 to $35 day to care for your horse. These funds go directly to the seller.
If you need other arrangements, we work these out on a case-by-case basis.
If you have ANY questions about deposits or PPEs, please reach out to us.

Going to the Track in Person
Most horses are located at Fairmount Park Race Track, 9301 Collinsville Rd, Collinsville, IL 62234.
To view a horse in person: Please contact the person in the horse's ad to set up an appointment with the seller. There are no exceptions to this policy.
Because of so many no-shows, we require a deposit of $75 to view a horse in person. This deposit must be paid electronically, and in advance. If you arrive on time, or communicate that you will be a bit late, this deposit will be refunded.
Once your appointment is set, this is considered a firm and set time appointment. There is a 15 minute window grace period. please communicate with us and the seller and let them know if you're running late or cannot make it.
The track is generally open and busy with training from 6am to 11am most days. Morning appointments are the preferred option. The track is very quiet in the afternoon and evenings.
When you are close to the track, contact the seller so that they know you're 5-10 minutes away. When you get to the track, go to the far left side of the parking lot, you will see travel trailers and a small security building. Please stop there, you will be asked for ID and you will be escorted onto the backside by the seller.
